Discussing the gospel of Jesus as it is shared in word and music
We love Jesus and can't get enough of hard rock and metal music. That pretty much sums up how a pastor from Pennsylvania and a teacher from Indiana became friends and launched a series of podcasts and live broadcasts that focus on the gospel and rock music. We both love many styles of music, but we believe that nothing captures the boldness of the gospel of Jesus better than hard rock and metal.
Consider the following. Christians believe that God, who spoke everything from quarks to quasars into existence, entered into His own creation in the form of a human being named Jesus so that those who were separated from Him could be reunited with Him and find life eternal thanks to the death, burial, and resurrection of that same Jesus. Seriously, if you didn't already know better, wouldn't that sound like lyrics to a metal song or the theme for a hard rock concept album?

Jesus never shied away from sharing the good news. He spoke it clearly and demonstrated it with healing and love, but He was always bold in its proclamation, and that is what He called His followers to be. The musicians you will find on this website have taken seriously His last words on earth. "I have been given all authority on heaven and earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20, NLT)

Our mission is simple. We support musicians, especially of the hard rock and metal genres, as they follow the last commandment of Jesus using their musical gifts. So check back here often. New interviews and shows are going up all the time along with more and more links to great bands. And follow us on Twitter @wildmanandsteve. We'd love to hear from you there or by email!
WHO ARE THESE GUYS?
Pastor Wildman is a follower of Jesus, husband, father, pastor, pastor coach, podcaster, blogger, and audio book narrator. He has served in full time ministry for over twenty years. He is passionate about Jesus, expositional Bible study, philosophy, and music. He grew up in an era where Christian Contemporary Music was just starting to hit the main-stream (1980s). This music was instrumental in his personal discipleship. Bands like Petra (his all time favorite), Whitecross, Barren Cross, Idle Cure, Holy Soldier, Messiah Prophet, Sacred Warrior, Stryper, etc., not only formed his musical taste, but also were the avenues God used for salvation and continued growth.
This also motivated him to be a musician himself and start playing guitar at the age of 13. As a guitarist he has played in several "backyard" bands throughout high school and college and still plays as a hobby today while also teaching his children. His top three favorite guitarists are: Rex Carroll (Whitecross), Phil Keaggy, and Bob Hartman (Petra). The three things he has a heart for which he loves to share with those around him are Jesus, music (rock/metal), and guitars!
Steve Perkins is a follower of Jesus, a husband, and a father. He has taught Latin and Classics for thirty years at middle school, high school, and university levels. He is the author of numerous books and articles and is the 2014 Indiana Teacher of The Year. You can find out more about that side of his life at stevenrperkins.weebly.com.

Steve's interest in metal began in the early 1980s with bands like Stryper, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi. From these he quickly grew to love the hard rock of the '60s and '70s and the blues going back to the '30s that inspired them. That passion for hard-driving, face-melting rock, especially the kind that glorifies the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ, continues to this day
